Alyssa Tricia Eloise Vintola and Lorenz Ray Payonaga

Alyssa Tricia Eloise Vintola and Lorenz Ray Payonaga won with their entry project entitled ‘Oscillohump’, an awesome energy management solution that harvests energy from road humps using the concept of induction. To explain it further, it simply means that whenever a vehicle passes through the Oscillohump, they generate power that charges a battery which may be used to power street lamps, traffic lights, or CCTV cameras. They even had the chance to get an all-expense paid visit to Paris, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Denmark and Indonesia.

#JayseeBlabs Closer Look on Contest Marketing

There are a lot of ways small businesses can benchmark on Schneider Electric's marketing strategy. If you have noticed, they used competition for brand marketing. They are trying to reach the Millenial Generation as a company of choice as part of talent acquisition and brand positioning in the potential market.

Yours Truly with EON Team Members

The stakes they are offering are very exciting and the learning experience that they will get is definitely priceless. The competition they are organizing will also aid research and development and stir up creative outputs in the chosen field as a catalyst of idea generation and eventually it might trigger new lines of businesses as well.

As Mashable.com reports, "Like other tools, contests can be extremely effective when used as part of a comprehensive social media strategy." Consider mechanics, platform, reach and target audience, regulations, industry reports and trends, specific measurable goals such as brand awareness or inspiring change or entrepreneurial spirit, prizes, and assess the current strengths of your company and brand as well as the opportunities for growth and understand how you can use that to your advantage.

Something to Hooray About

If not just the sunset, mornings are my most favorite part of the day.

Something about new beginnings and second chances, a promise to do something great, mornings just give us so many things to be anxious or smile about.

McDo brought together bloggers and media practitioners to do something together for the first time.

When I heard that I am invited to do yoga, I was like nah, that's going to be easy.

But little did I know that it is so strenuous, I could actually consider it a sport. My arms were literally shaking from the weight of my body and hamstrings ached as it was stretched doing the standing dog position. I just knew right then and there I had to do this every day. For someone who lives a monotonous lifestyle of endless officework with little to no movement for hours, this is a treat to your body as it tones your arms, loosens up joints, awakens your digestive system, improves blood circulation, and hardens your core.

"May all human beings find peace."

Loading
If you think yoga is easy, think again. Thanks @mcdoph Namaste. www.jaysee.me

What was taught to us by the ever glowing guru, Ms Elizalde of ECHOYoga Shala in Makati, were the first two batches of yoga poses namely, Surya Namaskar A and Surya Namaskar B. Each with co-related steps that when done, would leave you gasping for air and sweating the toxins out as you do the repetitions.

And contrary to popular belief, no, you won't fall asleep and no, it is not easy to do. It appears light as the instructors we see on TV or movies are effortless but for a beginner, you could just make a fool out of yourself much like us who laugh at our own bloopers every now and then.

Glide like a butterfly and not stump like an elephant, Ms Marilen Elizalde would jokingly remind. Revealing her age of 40, she looked more youthful and peaceful than I do. She has mastered the bodily discipline since 2001 and willingly introduced us to the joy of healing and strengthening your body from within. The dads and adult men in our batch fared just the same as the ladies.

Yoga Benefits

Recommended to be performed amid sunrise or natural lighting, yoga can do so much more like treat insomnia, makes the skin glow, lose extra calories, and for the ladies, regulate menstrual cycle. But let me give a focus on the total physical workout benefits you are going to get: limbs become symmetrical and your vital organs become more functional. For someone who values health before anything else, I recommend that you check out your local yoga studio and inspire everyone you know to be health conscious. The poses are monotonous so it is easy to master and you can do it when you wake up, before going to work, anywhere.

And when done in solitary, yoga can be the best way to clear your vulnerable mind in this seemingly self-destructing world.

McDo

Give yourself the gift of yoga and enjoy mornings the way it should be. And while you're at it, succumb to the latest breakfast offering of McDo with, my favorite, Chicken McMuffin. Also check out the Chicken Egg McMuffin and the delectable Sweet Ham Special. Let the most important meal of the day be something to hooray about.

Namaste.

How This Big Brand Gets You to Be #BetterTogether

With the recent launch of the #BetterTogether campaign, McDonald’s and Coca-Cola took a stand and asked people to stay offline a little longer to celebrate real-world connections.

Encouraging its customers to spend time with one another over a McDonald’s meal and a Coca-Cola drink, the two iconic brands introduced the BFF Bundles, meals best shared with friends, enabling them to experience moments of genuine connection anytime, anywhere.

In order to amplify and sustain the #BetterTogether campaign’s big idea of inspiring people to enrich their friendships by being physically together, McDonald’s and Coca-Cola have developed a new mobile app that will make bonding time even more exciting—the BFF Timeout App.

A fun new way to bring friends closer together, the BFF Timeout App is a gaming app which challenges players to go on a “digital timeout” with friends—to celebrate real-world connections without digital interruptions, such as checking their mobile phones. Customers just have to download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store on their iOS or Android phones, log in with their Facebook accounts or play as a guest, invite friends to play, and spend minutes, or even hours, gadget-free.

The game is very simple yet offers a fun challenge to those who find themselves often glued to their smartphones and handheld gadgets, as one can earn badges for more minutes played. The longer you and your friends go on a timeout, the better the reward!

More than being able to play a game with the gang, friends also have the chance to take their timeout to a fun destination! Until July 19, 2014, every purchase of a BFF Burger or Chicken Bundle for three or four comes with a coupon. Each coupon contains a code, which must be entered in the app to qualify for a chance to win a free trip for four! Prizes include a trip to Boracay on the first raffle draw, Coron, Palawan on the second, Singapore on the third and Osaka, Japan on the final draw.

So how long do you think you and your friends can last on a digital timeout? Download the McDonald’s and Coca-Cola BFF Timeout App now and find out!

This is how social media should be designed for, to upgrade the quality of life and experiences and not distract us!

Visit www.bfftimeout.com to know more. Tell us how you’re celebrating real-world connections by using the hashtags #BetterTogether and #BFFTimeout.

#JayseeBlabs Closer Look on Developing an App for your Brand

There is so much value into creating apps that market your brand in a way that will give consumers a fresh new way to interact with your portfolio at the same having a lifestyle problem solved at the same time. It's all about creating a much bigger enterprise impact.

Your proposition to give a better experience or make their lives easier should be exceeded each and every time as time and resource to download your app has its cost to the end-user. Marketing the brand should come second and make usability and purpose as first.

Multi-national brands should consider placing deep investment in app development to platforms where their consumers spend time on. Customer engagement has long changed and is set to replace the traditional marketing in the next few years or so because of its scalability, reach, cost-effectiveness and "measurability."

Sigeland: How Breeze Let's Cebu Moms Kids Explore

Mothers all around the metro were invited to Breeze’s first ever Sigeland event last June 22, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. It became such a success, that more moms asked if Breeze could hold another one. So Breeze decided to mount a second run of the Sigeland at the Ayala Activity Center in Cebu. Gates opened to the public at 11:00 AM, where moms and kids alike were welcomed to take part in fun activities as well as bring home a toy from the first toy store that doesn’t accept cash.

Breeze believes that stains, which come from playing and exploring, are good because it builds life experiences and teaches lessons. This is an attitude they wish to instill in mothers (thus turning them into Sige Moms) so that they encourage their children to try new things and learn important values along the way. Sigeland provides a perfect venue by which this can happen.

Breeze proudly presents the very first of its kind. Moms and kids in Sigeland took home toys without paying for them in cash, moms instead had to make a promise to say yes to stains, and yes to learning. Each toy was assigned a “price” that moms had to pay.

Our Miggy ecstatic to get his toy from Breeze!
For example, a child’s painting set had the price “teach your child creativity” on it, and moms must teach the child the value of creativity as payment for the toy. Other values included courage, confidence, and sportsmanship, offering a wide array of toy choices to pick from. Kids took home bikes, basketball hoops, inflatable pools, art sets, scooters and so much more.

Over 1500 toys were given away. Cashiers were set up to accept promises via Facebook instead of cash payments. Sige mom’s availed of their toys, by using the Sigeland Facebook App to “cash in” their promise of teaching their kids a lesson.  The no-cash toy store operates on the belief that if stains from playing lead to learning, then “Sige sa Mantsa!”

Breeze believes that children learn from their own independent experiences. By learning through toys, Sige kids are given the opportunity to experience their lessons through hands-on activities, translating abstract ideas into concrete form.

Present during the event is Sige Mom Dawn Zulueta, who experienced shopping at Sigeland. She also chose 10 lucky winners to have a photo taken with her, 9 of which were chosen via raffle draw and the other through Facebook.

Sige Land proved to be a fun venue for moms to bond with kids through a most memorable shopping experience that teaches them values and lessons along the way. This experience is a reminder that every stain leads to something good and that thanks to Breeze, our "Sige Moms" don't have to worry about stains and can focus on ensuring their childs life experience. Time for moms to stop saying 'No' and instead say "Sige sa mantsa!"

THE Philippines’ first-ever “Geeks On A Beach” (GOAB) tech and startup conference scheduled for Sept. 26-27 in the world-famous Boracay Island is now being co-presented by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

This was learned from Tina Amper, founder and president of the organizing TechTalks.ph who said that DOST, through its Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO), has since been very supportive of the group’s activities.

“The DOST has always been there for us,” said Amper. “From the first Startup Weekend Cebu to Startup Weekend Cebu 3, the DOST has been a perennial supporter. We owe all of this to Usec Casambre and sir Monchito (Ibrahim).”

Undersecretary Louis Napoleon C. Casambre is the executive director of DOST-ICTO, whose leadership has moved the agency forward in its new thrust to uplift the entrepreneurial spirit in the ICT industry. Monchito Ibrahim is Casambre’s deputy executive director for policies.

“We in the ICTO believe that providing support to technological and entrepreneurial activities like the Startup Weekend and `Geeks On A Beach’ is an effective way to further promote the ICT industry where Filipinos excel,” Casambre said.

Promotion of homegrown ICT products and businesses will not only provide employment in the locality, according to Casambre, but also innovative and creative solutions through products and services.

“We never tire in organizing and supporting events where young entrepreneurial-minded Filipinos will learn the rudiments of starting and managing a business through online media and the emergence of highly-sophisticated mobile devices,” Casambre said.

Attending the GOAB will be like going on a holiday as the conference will be held against the splendid natural backdrop that earned for Boracay the distinction as the “world’s best island” by Travel+Leisure.

The GOAB techfest promises to be a valuable and wonderful experience for participants as experts from across the globe will be on hand to share their insights on startups, technology, gaming, mobile apps, and graphic design with the songs of Bob Marley and real Jamaican reggae music in the background.

Topics lined up for discussion are The World Startup Ecosystem: Distinguishing the Asian Experience, The Evolution of Philippine Startup Ecosystem, Fostering and Funding Asian Startups, Startup Best Practices and Philippine Startup Success Stories, Social Media for World Change, World Startup Report: Opportunities and Threats, Strategies of Successful Startups, Attracting Investors, and Investing in Emerging Markets.

The growing list of resource speakers for the event include Bowei Gai of World Startup Report, Jojo Flores of Plug and Play Tech Center, Ron Hose of Innovation Endeavors, Maria Ressa of Rappler.com, Zac Cohn of Liffft, Ralph Wunsch of MetroDeal, Paul Singh of 500 Startups, Stephen Jagger of PayrollHero, Frederic Levy of CashCashPinoy, Earl Valencia of IdeaSpace.ph, Minette Navarette of Kickstart Ventures, Erick Garayblas of Kuyi Mobile, Jia Jih Chai of Airbnb, M. Christina Laskowski of STAC-Silicon Valley, Eric Su of PicLyf, Jay Fajardo of Proudcloud, Steve Cadigan of Cadigan Ventures, and Paco Sandejas of Narra Venture Capital, among many others.

It will also be a great opportunity for startup communities to pitch innovative ideas and create a network of partners, enroute to building new products and launching businesses that would attract investors to the Philippines.

The “Geeks on a Beach” event also features fun-filled geek games, film showing, and exhibitions for participants to enjoy.

Technological background or mastery is not a requirement for admission. One can simply attend “Geeks on a Beach” armed with interest and wicked ideas.

Interested to attend the GOAB may register at the event’s official website at http://www.geeksonabeach.com/ and enjoy 50 percent discount off the registration fee which is being offered until July 20 only. The first 20 early registrants will get the chance to have a group lunch with the speakers.

#JayseeBlabs Why Businesses Need To Target Millenials

Global brands like McDonalds' has significantly placed a lot of resources in deciphering what their targeted consumers love, the Millenial Generation. They have used localized stellar power to drive awareness such as brand ambassadors in the likes of Xian Lim. They even showcase apps, promos, new category products that are meant to appeal to young friends.

Why is this trend going on and why your business should care? (1) Marketing teams want to get hold of young patrons as they start grossing more income and establishing families, and (2) younger age group have been the historical source for movements in style, culture and food. But the (3) reason studies around our age band prove is that older buyers are progressively learning from their children, such as how to use smartphones.

Big chains have reinvented themselves to be more relevant to the cohort where smart informed choices is already a part of the purchase lifecycle. They have used organic fresh food in their selection and in their graphical messaging and the usage of sustainable packaging to instill corporate accountability. They also have become more visible in social programs in addressing issues revolving humanity and have capitalized on social media marketing to initiate conversation and cultivate community and fellowship.

Do the same and you'll find yourself within their ranks in the next brand and trust surveys.

LBC pilots TXT Remit service in Cebu

LBC Remit Express, one of the country’s key players in the remittance industry, is introducing TXT Remit, the company’s newest and most convenient product which will allow Filipinos to send and receive money at the speed of a text message.

To be launched first in Cebu, the breakthrough service bridges the challenges of geographical location when transferring and claiming remittances. With this service, customers can instantly send and receive money anytime, anywhere in the Philippines via SMS.

“With TXT Remit, our customers will enjoy an increased level of service in terms of convenience, speed and reliability. The remittance process is now easier and faster just like sending a text message.

"We chose Cebu to pilot the service because of its dynamic remittance environment which is smaller and easier to monitor. Eventually, we will expand the service to other areas in the Philippines,” says Achilles Reyes, VP of LBC Money.

The service improves the remittance experience of Filipino senders and recipients by taking advantage of their familiarity in text messaging and using stored value prepaid cards. For senders, they can send money securely anytime, anywhere with their mobile phone using a prepaid card, avoiding a trip to initiate a transaction. On the other hand, recipients can easily encash the amount received in any LBC branch nationwide.

To use LBC’s TXT Remit service, the sender simply needs to buy a prepaid card available in LBC branches and in accredited outlets and retailers in Cebu. The cards come in denominations of P500, P1000 and P1500 stored value.

Upon purchase, lightly scratch the back of the card to reveal the PIN which remitters can send via SMS using the syntax LBC<space>TRIPP<space><Your remit card no>/<your PIN> to 2910. The service will then promptly reply with a tracking number and PIN which the sender can forward to recipients so they can receive confirmation of the remitted amount.

In order to encash the remittance, the recipient must provide a valid ID and fill up an LBC encashment form along with the tracking number and PIN.

With TXT Remit, Filipinos in Cebu and soon, all over the Philippines – can experience faster and more convenient remittances through LBC branches nationwide.

For more information on TXT Remit and other services, please contact the customer hotline at 1-800-10-858-5999 or visit www.lbcexpress.com

Wat Ever Family KTV was born in Cagayan de Oro in 2010 from the company Opportunists, Inc. Since then, it has grown to three branches – Cagayan, Dumaguete and now, Cebu.

Wat Ever Family KTV Cebu houses 12 karaoke rooms that can comfortably accommodate 7-12 people, equipped with professional shock-proof mics, dancing disco lights and fully airconditioned. The rooms have quirky names derived from the word “whatever”. Songs are updated every month.

Wat Ever Family KTV is the only KTV in Cebu with real sounds as accompaniment, such as real acoustic sounds, giving customers the sensation of doing a live concert. Songs can also be recorded and downloaded into a USB so customers can record their own cover album. The dancing disco lights are peculiar because they are influenced by voice recognition. When the group is silent, the lights turn off. And when the group is in lively chatter or laughter, the lights dance to the speed of the voice.

Wat Ever is the most affordable KTV with room rates at only P88 and comfortable, decent setting. You can’t go hungry while you’re singing at Wat Ever. Pica-pica is good for 2-3 persons and is only at P60 - P220. Enjoy Wat Ever pica pica with their Beer Below Zero at only P35 per bottle.

When you feel like singing your hearts out, Wat Ever will be the only place that will come to mind. Whatever you do at Wat Ever, you’re sure to enjoy.

Wat Ever is open from 2 PM – 2 AM on Sunday to Thursday and 2 PM – 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Because Brushing Teeth is Never Enough

If actively taken care of, good oral health can be the perfect stepping stone to overall wellness.

I have relatives on both sides of my family living abroad for various reasons reasons and it always has something to do with trying to give the very best for their families. Technology has enabled us to connect with our loved ones in ways we never knew a few decades back. It has enabled us to simply talk and laugh with them like they were never gone. In fact, last Christmas, the whole family gathered around the computer to skype with our cousins abroad and they did a little magic show to our little children's amazement. Things like this are priceless.

But Skype has limitations, they're gonna need to login to their computer to be able to contact you. They even need to load credits to call you, or when worse comes to worst: what if there is an emergency and you need to get contacted immediately. Computer and internet connection may not always be there but your phone is. Worry not, there is hope.

I had just learned about how to enrich your experience with loved ones abroad through an innovation. Swissclear Global is a service provider for international mobile recharge, content and gaming credits. 'One Pacific Residence' is now 95% sold; new cluster to be launched

Megaworld, the country's top real estate company, announces that it has reached 95% of total sales for its One Pacific Residence condominium in Mactan, Cebu. This success has called for the upcoming launch of the development's new cluster on the first quarter of this year.

Located in Lapu-Lapu City, the new cluster will enjoy the property's topnotch amenities. These include a 20-meter-long pool, aqua gym, rock climbing wall, yoga/taichi area and pocket gardens, to name some of its standout features. The condominium will also include One Pacific Square, a retail area at the ground level, which will feature chic stores and boutiques.

“We are bringing luxury and lifestyle convenience to new heights. One Pacific Residence will showcase the best of 'Newtown' living,” says Noli D. Hernandez, President of Megaworld Cebu Properties, Inc.

Formally unveiled to the public on August 2012, One Pacific Residence was met with positive response from the Cebuanos, including Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza.

“Megaworld’s investment in Lapu-Lapu City is the bright beacon that will catapult the metropolis to become an economic force to reckon with”, Radaza expresses.

This residential project is part of Megaworld’s newest township in Cebu, The Mactan Newtown that incorporates the company's pioneering 'live-work-play' concept. This formula has spawned the unprecedented triumph of its townships in Manila-- Eastwood City, McKinley Hill and Newport City.

Wall climbing area. Kewl!

The 16-hectare township will be home to top IT and BPO offices, which aims to turn Mactan into one of Cebu's bustling IT business hubs.

Also, the success of the recent grand launch of the McDonald's The Mactan Newtown, serves as a precursor to the series of upscale entertainment hotspots, five-star hotels and posh shopping spaces which are all soon-to-rise within the township.

The Mactan Newtown brings a greater McDo to the island

Megaworld's newest township in Central Visayas, The Mactan Newtown, is shaping up to be one of Cebu's exciting lifestyle hotspots. Having already marked its arrival in Lapu-Lapu City when 8 Newtown Boulevard and One Pacific Residence were launched recently, The Mactan Newtown reaches another milestone with the opening of its first fast food tenant - McDonald's The Mactan Newtown - this January.

The Megaworld township is modelled after the company's pioneering 'live-work-play' concept, to which the fast food giant fits perfectly.

Like its other branches, McDonald's The Mactan Newtown will boast of the familiar drive-thru and PlayPlace areas.

“We are very excited to have a McDonald's open in The Mactan Newtown. It's always a risk to build branches in newly-developed areas, but at the rate that this Megaworld township is going, we have a sure winner,” says Eugene Reducindo, managing director of Choice Gourmet Banquet, Inc., franchisee of Golden Arches Development Corp. (GADC).

Reducindo adds the opening of McDonald's will pave the way for the launch of upcoming commercial spaces.

Aside from the soon-to-rise luxury condominiums, world-class hotels, high-end retail shops and BPO offices, McDonald's is expected to help boost tourism in the township and in Lapu Lapu City, in general. It is even going as far as to enliven the district, with its very marketable appeal to both the young and the young-at-heart.

“McDonald's will undoubtedly be a key lifestyle component in the Mactan Newtown township, since both residents and employees now have an easily accessible branch in this part of Mactan Island,” shares Jericho Go, Megaworld's first vice president for Business Development and Leasing Group (BDLG).

Go adds that the new McDo branch will help establish The Mactan Newtown's foothold as an ideal location for investors and BPO companies.

This is a press release.
