Globe Kamustahan fires up Cebu with K Brosas, Isay Alvarez and Robert Sena

Loyal Globe patrons from Cebu City and its adjacent provinces recently displayed a show of force during the company's "Kamustahan," a series of customer caravans across the country as Globe’s way of updating them and showing its appreciation for their many years of patronage.

Individual customers, high-end Platinum subscribers, retailers as well as representatives from the local media were treated to a night of fun, good food, fanfare and first-hand information from company officials led by Globe President & CEO Ernest Cu, who on behalf of the company acknowledged their patronage and support through the years.

That's me showing my Globe smile. Lovin their awesome coverage all over the country for years now.

The Kamustahan was an opportunity for Globe to inform subscribers about the status of its network transformation, and about the improved customer experience that is to be expected from the new network.

“Rather than undertaking a mere business-as-usual capacity upgrade that costs much less, we decided to give customers the best network possible in the market,” said Mr. Cu, adding that

Mr Ernest Cu, toasting with his Cebu team who were big part in the growth of Globe for a very long time now. Event at the Marriot was a testament of their unwavering power, service and dedication to lead innovation and become a customers' champion.

“Globe spent $700 million on a completely new network by replacing our over 7,500 base stations located around the country with brand new equipment. On top of that, Globe has also invested $90 million in IT systems to provide you superior customer service: better billing processes, promo enrolment, and so much more."

Comedienne extraordinaire K Brosas bursts the crowd into laughter as she cooks up gags after gags. Shown here, she shares the limelight with two bloggers, Doyzkie and Jorich and a guest in a hilarious skit.

The Kamustahan also showcased Cebu City's local talents, as well as premier stage artists in singer Zia Quizon, Broadway mainstays Robert Sena and Isay Alvarez.

LBC pilots TXT Remit service in Cebu

LBC Remit Express, one of the country’s key players in the remittance industry, is introducing TXT Remit, the company’s newest and most convenient product which will allow Filipinos to send and receive money at the speed of a text message.

To be launched first in Cebu, the breakthrough service bridges the challenges of geographical location when transferring and claiming remittances. With this service, customers can instantly send and receive money anytime, anywhere in the Philippines via SMS.

“With TXT Remit, our customers will enjoy an increased level of service in terms of convenience, speed and reliability. The remittance process is now easier and faster just like sending a text message.

"We chose Cebu to pilot the service because of its dynamic remittance environment which is smaller and easier to monitor. Eventually, we will expand the service to other areas in the Philippines,” says Achilles Reyes, VP of LBC Money.

The service improves the remittance experience of Filipino senders and recipients by taking advantage of their familiarity in text messaging and using stored value prepaid cards. For senders, they can send money securely anytime, anywhere with their mobile phone using a prepaid card, avoiding a trip to initiate a transaction. On the other hand, recipients can easily encash the amount received in any LBC branch nationwide.

To use LBC’s TXT Remit service, the sender simply needs to buy a prepaid card available in LBC branches and in accredited outlets and retailers in Cebu. The cards come in denominations of P500, P1000 and P1500 stored value.

Upon purchase, lightly scratch the back of the card to reveal the PIN which remitters can send via SMS using the syntax LBC<space>TRIPP<space><Your remit card no>/<your PIN> to 2910. The service will then promptly reply with a tracking number and PIN which the sender can forward to recipients so they can receive confirmation of the remitted amount.

In order to encash the remittance, the recipient must provide a valid ID and fill up an LBC encashment form along with the tracking number and PIN.

With TXT Remit, Filipinos in Cebu and soon, all over the Philippines – can experience faster and more convenient remittances through LBC branches nationwide.

For more information on TXT Remit and other services, please contact the customer hotline at 1-800-10-858-5999 or visit www.lbcexpress.com

Big Flat Bread is a place for everyone to enjoy a good meal with good company at affordable prices in a decent setting.

BFB is one of the restaurants by Opportunists, Inc. of which Jim Uy, a Cebuano by birth, is the company president. It is a local pizza chain that began in Cagayan de Oro in 2009.

Jim Uy grabbed the opportunity to be the first local pizza contender in Cagayan since he saw there were no other local players and he found a good location (Limketkai Mall).

Big Flat Bread immediately gained popularity and quickly grew to five branches within three years – two in Cagayan de Oro, one in Palawan and Butuan and now, Cebu. Kevin Lance Lim is the first franchisee for the Cebu branch.

BFB – as fondly named by regular customers – boasts of their thin crust pizza, baked in a brick oven, which comes in choices of two sauces: tomato sauce or white sauce. Pizza is served in three sizes – big (12”), bigger (18”) and biggest (30”). They not only offer an interesting variety of pizza flavors, they also have pasta and fried chicken. The best sellers are The Godfather pizza (loaded with vegetable and meat toppings), the Spudsters (potato mojos), Big Hot Fried Chicken, Buffalo Wings and the cheesecake.

One of the most special features of BFB is their “Create your own pizza” option for the 30” pizza, where customers can have a variety of up to four flavors in one pizza. Prices depend on the number of variants in flavor, beginning at P1,350 for two flavors, to P1,550 for four flavors.

BFB also offers Big Meal set meals good for 12-15 persons for only P2,500, which includes 2 Bigger Pizzas, 3 pasta platters, 1 basket Big Hot Fried Chicken and 2 Pitchers of Big Flat Coolers/Soft Drinks. With Big Flat Bread’s Big Meals, barkadas and big families can enjoy satisfying meals together at a very reasonable price. But solo diners or smaller groups are also welcome at BFB with affordable choices of rice meals and pasta meals ranging from P88 – P148 only.

Everyone knows pizza and beer are a perfect match. BFB offers the most affordable Beer Below Zero beer at only P35! With that, customers can enjoy their ice cold beers with a sisig pizza or if they’re feeling more adventurous, the crocodile pizza.

Awesome Fun at WAT EVER FAMILY KTV in Cebu

Filipinos are known to be great singers and maybe even the karaoke capital in the world! Karaoke can be found anywhere around the Philippines, even in far flung towns and provinces.

Wat Ever Family KTV was born in Cagayan de Oro in 2010 from the company Opportunists, Inc. Since then, it has grown to three branches – Cagayan, Dumaguete and now, Cebu.

Wat Ever Family KTV Cebu houses 12 karaoke rooms that can comfortably accommodate 7-12 people, equipped with professional shock-proof mics, dancing disco lights and fully airconditioned. The rooms have quirky names derived from the word “whatever”. Songs are updated every month.

Wat Ever Family KTV is the only KTV in Cebu with real sounds as accompaniment, such as real acoustic sounds, giving customers the sensation of doing a live concert. Songs can also be recorded and downloaded into a USB so customers can record their own cover album. The dancing disco lights are peculiar because they are influenced by voice recognition. When the group is silent, the lights turn off. And when the group is in lively chatter or laughter, the lights dance to the speed of the voice.

Wat Ever is the most affordable KTV with room rates at only P88 and comfortable, decent setting. You can’t go hungry while you’re singing at Wat Ever. Pica-pica is good for 2-3 persons and is only at P60 - P220. Enjoy Wat Ever pica pica with their Beer Below Zero at only P35 per bottle.

When you feel like singing your hearts out, Wat Ever will be the only place that will come to mind. Whatever you do at Wat Ever, you’re sure to enjoy.

Wat Ever is open from 2 PM – 2 AM on Sunday to Thursday and 2 PM – 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

PBA Legends Search for the Next Hardcourt Greats in Cebu

Former basketball superstar Jojo Lastimosa and Johnny Abarrientos have once again returned to Brgy. Casuntingan, Mandaue where a basketball court dubbed as the “Court of Inspiration” was built by local volunteers last year.

Together with Alvin Patrimonio, Benjie Paras, Jerry Codinera and Ronnie Magsanoc, they have been going around the country to conduct basketball training camps. The program is part of Alaxan FR's nationwide advocacy to promote a culture of hard work and dedication, where pain is seen as a badge of honor.

Dubbed as the Galing Mo Camp—a training program that will reward not only those who work hard but also those who demonstrate the attitude of champions—the program had young, local basketball players demonstrating heart and skills for a chance to receive special training in Manila under the basketball legends, aside from winning cash grants for themselves and their communities.

Jojo Lastimosa and Johnny Abarrientos shares tips and their
humble beginnings during the press conference.

The training camp was met with much enthusiasm, as aspiring locals aged 16-21 years old trooped to Casuntingan’s Court of Inspiration to undergo drills and receive assessment from the discerning basketball legends. To quote one participant, “Mahirap po, lalo na kapag galing sa PBA yung nagjujudge sa'yo. Talagang kelangang magpursige at galingan ko”. It's hard, especially when you're being judged by former PBA players. I really need to do my best and persevere).

Championing Hard Work

According to Jojo Lastimosa, the basketball camp aims to reward those who used the Courts of Inspiration to train hard and perfect their basketball skills. Five of the best local prospects that would be chosen will be sent to train in the program's national leg, along with others from Iloilo, Bacolod, Butuan, Sarangani, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Tacloban and Zamboanga and the chance to be scouted in amateur and collegiate leagues.

But more than improving talent, Lastimosa stresses that the program seeks to instill the value of hard work, dedication and good attiitude, especially among the young participants. “Gusto namin na maranasan nila mismo yung pagsisikap na kailangan para mag-excel sa buhay” (We want them to realize firsthand the amount of hard work that's needed to excel in life), he tells.

Through the advocacy, Alaxan FR and the basketball legends aim to “inspire greatness through sheer diligence.” Through both advice and direct experience, they constantly remind the new generation of basketball players about the value of hard work in achieving dreams.

Helping the Community

“Pero hindi lang 'to para sa sarili nila. Kung talagang magpupursige sila, at kakikitaan ng tamang kaugalian, may pagkakataon silang matulungan ang kanilang barangay..” (This isn't just for themselves. If they train hard enough and exhibit the winning attitude, they could also get a chance to help their community), says Lastimosa.
According to Shiela Roño, Alaxan FR Product Manager, the top 10 participants in the national roster will receive Php20,000, as well as a Php100,000 financial grant for an infrastructure project for his community.
“Last year, we sought to teach Barangay Casuntingan that great things can come from working hard together,” adds Shiela Roño, citing the volunteer-built Courts of Inspiration. After Visayas and Mindanao, similar courts are currently being built by local folk in Luzon. “This year, we aim to let them experience how hard work and dedication can make a difference, not just for themselves but also for their communities. “

Not for Sissies: My Extreme Cantabaco Rock Climbing Dare

After much encouragement from my friend and former colleague, Rey, I have decided to escape my way to join Couchsurfers from all over Cebu to enjoy the mega exhausting rock climbing activity. I didn't exaggerate when I said that it was that exhausting because, mind you, every inch of your body is gonna hurt so bad the next day especially for someone who, like me, only has internet surfing as sports. haha

I highly recommend everyone to prepare yourself for the extreme fun and sweat that is bound to entangle once you make your way to the town in the south, Toledo City. After hopping aboard a V-Hire in Cebu City Citilink Terminal, we found ourselves in a road trip of a lifetime. Going to the rock climbing site in Cantabaco was a breeze with scenic views on one side and potential landslide in the other. (Good thing the weather was purrrfect!).

For virgin climbers like me, your guide has everything you need covered. All they ask from you though is trust that they will keep pulling you upward and trust to the equipment which apparently I didn't have but I'll dabble on that a little later. And please take your breakfast ahead and bring lots of water. It's not like you'll be surrounded with stalls or restos around the forest! (Lesson Learned!)

So there we were on the large limestone formations with bolts and whatchamacallit. I was so scared but decided to distract myself with the company of new friends, kidding around and taking pictures of almost every angle of ourselves.

I didn't volunteer to go first. No way ever. Had to see another one before I could appease my anxieties. But as each and every one of them had gone up I soon found myself next in line... and I was ready. At least for the most part. As the most amazing guides took care of helping through with the stuff needed, I could just hide my aggression in jokes and smiles. Looked up and my hand reached for the nearest hole. All my physical strength went into my upper body in the most stressful of ways and I could never be thankful enough for Kuya Gian, a travel adventurer blogger of AdrenalineRomance.com was there to assist me too. He and his girlfriend make such a great kickass couple. Anyway, I struggled every move I have to make and every step I have to take. (singing?) I was literally shouting every time I pulled myself up. I had to exercise after this. Maybe next years repeat resolution perhaps. hahah The shoes you're gonna wear is gonna hurt so bad since it is so small it will make your sole arch a little bit which will help you in sticking your toes in those holes. I'd also like to thank Joyce for taking kewl pictures of me!

But everyone's cheers and precise guidance got me to the middle where I rested a little bit and accidentally seeing the blood stains on the rock from our slightly injured foreign friend, Tomash, was never really helpful. But I had to go on and finish this. So I pulled myself higher and stepped one bulge at a time. Everything in  clockwork precision where a slight miscalculation would end in.... nah, you wouldn't exactly fall because once you let go; you would just hang in there like a pendulum anyway. I should've known of that sooner anyway. Because what happened was, when I reached the top, they were telling me to let go and just rapel my way down. But I couldn't. I have trust issues. (drama!) I was at the top and maaaan, did it feel great! I was thinking I could just climb my way down but it is never the way to go. So after much hesitation, I stepped out of my comfort zone and man it never felt soooo good to let go. I was going down with so much grace, my photos seemed effortless. hahah! Missing my CS friends so bad. :(

The Highlands and What Makes You Don't Wanna Go Home | Azalea Residences Baguio

Sitting majestically above a hill in the Summer Capital of the Philippines, the Azalea Residences Baguio lives up to its name of giving you a home not just a hotel. Being with such great company, the magnificent sights, sounds and gastronomic journeys made the vacay anything but perfect.

Be smitten with the highland beauty that awaits you the moment you step out of your vehicle and despite the cool climate, you'll feel warm by the accommodation of the well-trained courteous staff. Made me not to come home too soon. What can an all-suite upscale hotel not do anyway? Azalea is definitely a keeper at that. It doesn't fall short of letting you and your whole entourage feel the best things in life for a stay or two.

Philippines seduces the world as an irresistibly hot tropical beauty on a daily basis. But be prepared to feel transported like you are in the other side of the world as a lot of great things abound here in Baguio: the sweet scent of the pine trees, perfectly manicured landscapes embellishing homes and establishments all over, world-famous strawberry farms and rich vegetation, the breeze that makes you blush and hold on to your warmers, picture perfect terrains and most importantly, the infectious happy mood of the people, the works. Ahhh, Baguio.

I was literally counting the days as it goes by clinging to my flight details to one of the top destinations in Asia today before setting foot in the famed highlands. But with so much excitement, I tried my best to not even peek at the itinerary that our guide, Mr. Vincent Tabor of lakbaybaguio.com, has prepared. But with all the notifications that I get on Facebook regarding the group conversations, it was hard not to and I squirmed with so much joy when I saw them one by one. It didn't spoil my goals of being surprised though since I tried not to remember them. I do this every time I am invited for a trip like when the National Nutrition Council took me for a learning visit all over Bohol and Negros Occidental and when the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation flew me to Bacolod, and Kabankalan.

But Baguio is not anything close to the typical Philippines. It has a mysterious charm that enchants you to stay longer if not forever.

Azalea Residences invited bloggers from Cebu and Manila like to me to experience their luxurious accommodations and how conveniently located it is from the spots that makes Baguio the place to be for generations now. We also had an up-close experience to one of the most beautiful festivals in the country, the Panagbenga (note: correctly pronounced as panág bang-ngúh).

The hotel literally has everything you need a lobby lounge, a business center and playground for your toddlers. They also offer phone and wifi connectivity, 24-hour doctor on-call, tour and vacay services, laundry and dry cleaning, spa, handicap accessibility and transportation arrangement to and from Manila. Their 200-person events tent provides the perfect reception for social and corporate shindigs, a first in Baguio City.

Boasting of high-ceiling modern contemporary structural and interior design, never was a hotel this livable.  Its wide open spaces and over-sided azalea cutouts, make it distinct from other hotels in Baguio.

We were definitely living large at the two bedroom suites for four days three nights with complimentary breakfast buffet and tour arrangements. With a stylish kitchen where we hosted our midnight cocktail parties, a living room for our binge TV marathons, and large comfort and shower rooms for washing the day off you, staying at Azalea is a vacation in itself and we haven't even stepped out yet.

You have not yet lived the life if you had not stepped into Azalea.

ASUS Secret to Perfectly Engineered PCs and Tablets is YOU

What started as a motherboard manufacturer now becomes a top lifestyle brand with a line up of electronic devices that makes personal and work life so much easier and fun!

ASUS, the leading global brand in PCs and mobile among others, got its name from Pegasus of Greek mythology. And just like the winged horse, it has soared to become one of the pioneers in the industry today.

I am living testament to the power of their products as I am one of the proud owners of ASUS Google Nexus 7 and to tell you that it is worth all the hassles buying it from Adorama.com (all the way from the US when it first got out of the market), is an understatement. It has hypothetically never left my side except in the shower and it has aided me in my book reading, collaboration with my orgs, social networking and power surfing. Did I mention that NVidia Tegra has made my gaming experience top notch? So much to love about such a great product but it is another blog post to tell though.

Celebrating a great year for the company here in the Philippines, they flew their top dealers all over the country all the way here in sunny island of Cebu for a few days of nothing but beach fun and festivities.

Jervie of jerminix.com, Ram of techbuzz.ph and your truly,
Jaysee of www.jaysee.me pose with the  ASUS Padfone
which is not going to be available anytime soon in the country.
Yes, you are not delusional,
that's a connectable tablet and a smartphone in one!

We also got a close encounter to their latest line up of all-in-one PCs, mobile tablets, notebooks and ultrabooks and we could never be more delighted to know that such light devices contain SO much power that it should've been a fat PC in a parallel world.

What is notable on their products is the fact that is centered around user experience. From the unboxing up to its incorporation to your day to day living, they have thought of your needs and wants way ahead. In fact they have devised principles known as Customer Happiness 1.0 and 2.0 which discusses about the specifications of their devices in terms of fulfilling needs and meeting standards.

Even the sound when the turn your device on has been studied, where every corner and space counts, they have perfectly engineered every model to a particular market segment and it gives me chills to see how this was accounted for, in their series of presentation.

Their hardworking and brilliant people working behind the scenes propelled ASUS where it is today, positioned to be a brand to reckon with. Smart. Experience. Life. One thing I've learned that day, they don't sell gadgets. They sell the experience; a marketing buzzword that goes beyond what the numbers of their specifications and performance actually mean to real normal people like you and me.

A beautiful stolen shot care of my sizzie Chanel Imperial of shankybaby.blogspot.com

As it turns out, they are more geared towards the future.

ASUS wants you to live a life that is simple, easy and social.

They have introduced products that seamlessly connect with each other even with other branded Android devices. They want your data, your life per se, to be ubiquitous. Thus, they introduced cloud storage so you can access your photos, documents, videos and other files on the go. Plus they made it to a point to tailor fit the features to make your content easier to share to family, friends and to the world. They want you to live easy that is why their mobile devices has reached the top benchmarks in terms of responsiveness and they were never afraid to name the competitors included in their testing and I'm not here to burden you with technical results as their site could do that for you for validation purposes.

In their commitment to give you nothing but the best money could buy, ASUS and their line up of life savers are here to usher us to a new age of living life that way we should be.

MANGGAHAN Grill and Resto for Awesome Dishes Suprisingly Affordable

After a day’s hard work, we often look for an easygoing place to unwind with friends without having to worry about anything – especially expenses. We seek a place with good food, affordable prices and a decent ambience to spend a few hours in. Manggahan is the perfect concoction to your de-stressing needs. It offers unbelievably low prices for food and liquor, matched with a cozy ambience and live acoustic entertainment daily.

Manggahan is located at Wilson St. Apas, Lahug, joining the growing stream of restaurants in the neighborhood. “Manggahan”, in Cebuano, means a place where mango trees are planted. The idea of the name was taken from the big mango tree at the back of the restaurant. The old mango tree becomes the highlight of the garden.

The restaurant greets you with a vibrant and cozy setting with comfortable furniture for premium satisfaction. It specializes in native/Cebuano cuisine and offers exotic dishes such as hito prepared in an engaging variety, fried bakasi and sizzling crocodile sisig.

But what sets Manggahan apart is its innovation of the conventional Pinoy bbq by introducing an interactive version much like “Pinoy-style Yakiniku”. Each table is installed with a tabletop grill along with a built-in exhaust, giving customers the free hand to cook their own bbq to their preferences and getting to eat freshly cooked items without leaving the place smelling like dinner.

It’s a new and great way to chill with friends, enjoying drinks while cooking your dinner. Families can enjoy this as well. Speaking of drinks, cocktails and liquor are at rock bottom prices, with cocktails beginning at P48 and Beer Below Zero for only P35 a bottle. WiFi is also available at a reliable speed of 5 Mbps.

A place that never rests to give you the rest you need, Manggahan serves you from 5 AM – 3 AM daily. With an affordable menu of everything below P200 and the most affordable drinks in town, Manggahan is the place to be.
