Argao brings Gabii sa Kabilin to the south

Weaving together tales of the past, tasting the dishes passed down from generations, and the cultural dances and musical recitals that serenade the very roots of our identity, the Argao's leg of Gabii sa Kabilin was definitely a treat that you should experience in the coming years.

The Municipality of Argao through its Tourism Commission with Cebu Technological University - Argao Campus and Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Micheal Parish of Argao held 2nd Gabii sa Kabilin.

This developed as a step to expanding the coverage of Gabii sa Kabilin which is originally initiated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and its partners since 2007 where museums and heritage sites in Cebu and Mandaue cities open at night.

In Argao, the center of activities of this cultural event is its 18th century town center known in the old days as cabecera, where the opening program was held.

This site holds the most number of stone buildings in Cebu dating back to the 1780s. It is home to Argao's municipal h…

Cebu youth teams present their ideas for healthier communities through Unilab Ideas Positive

Six youth teams from Cebu pitched their positive ideas for a healthy change in communities in this year’s national run of Unilab Ideas Positive-- the only social marketing congress and competition for college students in the country today.

Cebu had the most number of youth delegate teams that advanced to the program’s live screening phase—they are now up against 22 other groups from Metro Manila, North & South Luzon and Mindanao for a chance to win P100, 000 seed money for them to jumpstart their projects.

Aside from the funding, the chosen teams will also be flown to Manila this June, with free hotel accommodation, meals and transportation, to attend a 3-day social marketing boot camp.

We believe in the collective power of the youth to be catalysts of positive change in our communities that is why Unilab Ideas Positive came into fruition. The growing number of entries every year prompted us to go nationwide this 2012 and we are immensely humbled by the support our Cebuano youth …

Cleaner World: Positive Change for a Healthier Philippines! Unilab Ideas Positive Campaign Transforms Communities with Youth

It goes without saying that Philippines has become an epicenter of the harsh effects of Climate Changes.

From the thousands of lives lost to typhoons and extreme famine, we could never ignore the reality that we need to have sustainable ways of modifying our lifestyle so that we could leave less carbon footprint. One thing we could act now is address our environmental problems in lessening garbage.

Fortunately, our country has been addressing this issue for quite sometime now through proper waste disposal, encouraging zero waste management, recognizing and rewarding green companies, strong info campaign on dealing with waste, effective packaging, and strict implementation of the law.

But as I had a community visit to the Inayawan Landfill in Cebu, I thought to myself, we have to somehow step up our game so that we don’t have to deal with this mountain high wastes and people living around it won’t have to live in such a horrible place. They may look happy and content when we went ther…

Championing Real Heroes Online

The highest incidence of poverty occurs in the rural areas and we believe that the very people who are feeding us, the farmers who work tirelessly to provide us with food, don't have to remain poor.

We, Team CPMPC of Young Minds Academy (YMA) Season 5, has been tasked to do a wide range of Social Marketing efforts for a poverty alleviation program of the Municipality of Consolacion. We are campaigning to support Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan, a project which aims to train farmers about modern fruit and vegetable production.

Basically, farmer beneficiaries from all over go the farm demo site to be trained through the education capabilities of Harbest Agribusiness Inc. The Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan project currently receives mobilization funding from SM Foundation Inc. for the project operating costs which includes training and transportation allowance.

We aimed for great social impact and awareness by tapping on the social media applications that most people are using today. Our elaborate S…

World class leadership learned at 6th Aboitiz Future Business Leaders’ Summit

I never realized there is just so much to learn for two days about business, government and leadership as I got the chance to get an up close and personal look into how the corporate world revolves.
Being with the top 90 students from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to learn from the Aboitiz Group executives, despite their busy schedules, was just overpowering. I give a thumbs up to everyone who took the initiative especially to Aboitiz Corporate HR to organize an upscaled 6th Aboitiz Future Business Leaders Summit which was held at the Radisson Blu in Cebu City.

Here is a video coverage of the event by Yours Truly, Jaysee Blabs

Working around the theme “Inspiring Leaders for a Better Future,” August 19-20, 2011 pooled together the greatest minds running the biggest corporate entities today under the Aboitiz Group.

Here’s a quick recap:

Montxu Aboitiz gave the opening remarks.

Cebu’s hosting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit promising a boost in local industries, with the assembly of the Cebu International Convention Center alone seen to spur development in tourism and professional service.
