Scholars Upscale Social Marketing To Promote Hero Farmers

Can you imagine life without farmers? A team of scholars from the Young Minds Academy (YMA) Season 5 leadership program can’t. They harnessed the power of marketing strategies mostly through the new media to promote a farmer empowerment project in Consolacion, Cebu. Because of the on-going training that the farmers are undergoing, they will soon yield better and abundant harvests in their respective farms all over Cebu.

Run for a Cause: Youth for Hope Wanna BET for Transformation

Dilaab Foundation is organizing a fun run entitled, "Youth for Hope, Wanna BET for Transformation?"  on October 8, 2011 (Saturday).  

It will start at:

1. 4:30 am at AFP Central Command, Camp Lapu-lapu for the10k
2. 5:00 am at PNP PRO 7, Camp Sergio Osmena for the 5k
3. 5:00 am at Seminario Mayor de San Carlos for the 3K

The runs will end at AFP Central Command, Camp Lapu-lapu where a raffle draw and fun-filled program awaits.  They are inviting all Kaabag members to participate in this worthwhile endeavor.   

Kabataan, Kultura ug Kabilin (KKK) Heritage Tour: Awesome Culture Appreciation for the Youth

To provide the youth expanded learning on cultures from different periods by visiting local museums, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) held the third run of its Kabataan, Kultura ug Kabilin (KKK) Heritage Tour last Sept. 24. 

The event was initiated in partnership with the Cebu City Government and University of San Carlos-Department of Anthropology, Sociology and History (USC-DASH).

Close to 2,000 students from the University of San Carlos joined and visited nine museums


As we speak, a lot of children don’t have access to quality health and medical care, a lot have gone out on the streets as out of school youth, and a lot have slaved themselves as young laborers. 

Loitering, excessive alcohol intake, discrimination, smoking, gambling and prostitution make it even worse.

Don’t even get me started with the alarming rate of teenage pregnancies and youth who are involved with drug addiction. Can you even imagine a kid being aborted, victimized, trafficked and abused right this very moment? Can you even imagine a baby who is dying because of failing health and disappointing facilities?

We can do something about it and I am putting an emphasis on the sense of urgency because I don’t want push every one to the edge just so we could start moving. 

We have laws that protect our children but when we talk about development, survival, participation and protection, is it really enough?

Projects like this entice little children to love school like never before and we’re blessed that we have people who are so inclined to nation building that they aid our government in moving the country forward.
