Why Watch Zombadings: Patayin Sa Shokot Si Remington Today

Today, August 31, 2011 is the National Zomba Day. Independent films are taken new heights as Origin8 Production presents "Zombadings: Patayin Sa Shokot Si Remington."

What is the movie about? The story is about Remington, played by Martin Escudero who bullies gays as a hobby. Because of this, a grieving homosexual, played by Roderick Paulate, cursed him that he will turn gay when he grows up. And it came true 15 years after just in time when he is about to court a girl. He is haunted by a dreadful macho, changed appearance and mannerisms and language. He even fell for his bestfriend, played by Kerbie Zamora. While Remington is suffering this, a notorious killer is on the loose targeting gays in the community.

Krispy Kreme to open two branches in Cebu!

Five years after Krispy Kreme set foot in the Philippines, the confectionary company immediately garnered its own niche leading to an extensive expansion across Metro Manila.

Krispy Kreme opened its 1st store at Bonifacio Global City in November 2006. At present, Krispy Kreme boasts of 23 stores that serve renowned melt-in-your mouth doughnuts and coffee.

“We achieved what the Americans have been feasting on since 1930’s—the famous Krispy Kreme doughnut line, best served after the hot light outside the store flashes on,” says Jim Fuentebella, Chairman of Krispy Kreme Philippines . “And we also experienced the long lines that people in the US do, every time a new store opens for business.”

Social Entrepreneurship And The World

Yes, the values of a non-government organization and the economic gains you can get from business management can actually work well together through an innovation called social enterprise.

What better way to learn more about it than talking with someone who has succeeded in implementation and in turn changing the lives of his beneficiaries.

But he doesn’t want me to use that term since it is not a dole out or patronage so I will be using the term business partners to his nanays. Bam Aquino, presidential cousin, was just so pumped up to talk about his program the Happinoy Stores which aims to find sustainable ways to help the poor in their micro-retailing business development.

“The level of dignity is not compromised and the empowerment is genuine. Iba kapag sila ang may-ari ng tindahan,” he says.

The energy and dynamism he exuded all throughout the interview was just overwhelming. But I just can’t help to notice his likeness to his uncle, the iconic Benigno Aquino Jr.

RAFI Celebrates the Success Greenin Philippines’ Run2Plant

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) has once again initiated a project that had attracted thousands across the province of Cebu to run and plant thereafter. More than 55,000 earth runners joined the Run2Plant 4 Greenin Philippines held simultaneously in the 48 municipalities and cities of the Province of Cebu last June 25, 2011.

Together we have planted more than 200,000 seedlings of native tree species, fruit tree seedlings, and mangrove trees. With the sustainability plans of RAFI and its partners, we are seeing a beautiful thriving forestry in the future.

The event broke its own records exceeding a target of seedlings, double than planned. Even the participants multiplied a couple folds from the 4,000 who initially registered.

To celebrate this, RAFI organized a Partners’ Day held at the Casa Gorordo last August 2, 2011. It started with the opening preliminaries and Audio Visual Presentations of the foundation and the Greenin Philippines program.

Immersion Diaries of Jaysee in Consolacion

As part of our last quarter for the YMA program, we are in the data gathering stages for our project development. Destiny had it that my team, Gen A Team 4 Team CPMPC, will be immersed for a few days in Brgy. Pulpogan, Consolacion, Cebu.
It was a bright sunny Saturday of July 9, 2011 when we first stepped on our own for a YMA module. Scared, doubts and frustrations clouded our minds but the fact that we are going to stay there until July 11 means we have to straighten up and look focused head on. I was sort of dying by that time because I had just worked 16 hours straight to make up for my absence on Monday.

I feel blessed that the Brgy. Captain and his people still managed to accommodate us despite the limited time that they were informed on and the purpose of our being there had not been that clear to them but as YMA scholars we made the initiative to reach out to the people and do our job and just do it well.

My first impression of the community is that it looks very typical to an…
