New CPDRC Dancing Inmates video to Micheal Jackson’s This Is It

Image
Another way for Filipino pride to shine through, Philippines’ "Dancing Inmates" from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), a maximum security prison, were treated to a visit by Michael Jackson’s long-time choreographer Travis Payne and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid to learn performances from THIS IS IT. The internet has been paving the way to international stardom for most people including Filipino names like pop star Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda who eventually became the voice of Journey. This another act of CPDRC is another great way to break the power of conventional media and making entertainment the world deserves accessible. They started with “Thriller” so I guess it makes sense that they give us another world-class performance from the people the society used to look down upon, our dancing inmates. This is rehabilitation at its finest and I couldn’t be more thankful that people with great names from the industry have put their resou…

21-Year-Old Man Rescued 10 Days After Haiti Earthquake

Image
A man gets a second shot at life as he was rescued just when everyone thought he would have died amidst all the rubble. He was hiding in the desk from the grocery store he was working in for 10 days and grabbed everything he can from sodas to crackers and pretty much everything he can reach just to keep himself alive. Well to think of it, it is just a small price to pay for the miracle of life. Reports have surfaced that he could be the “last victim to be pulled to safety.” And the miracle happened in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where all you could see are the remnants from the moving tectonic plates that took the lives and the livelihoods of millions. When a man heard a knocking sound amid the rubbles, he immediately alerted Greek, French and US teams and they responded to pull out a hotel cashier. You can just imagine the agony he has to go through of being under such tremendous stress and thoughts that help might not actually come. As if that wasn’t amazing enough, it was actually the da…

My Ultimate Sinulog Experience and Different Reflections

Image
A lot have criticized Christianity here in Cebu because of our festivities in honor of the Child Jesus because they claim it is a form of idolatry. I know. Everyone has their opinions. But I’m pretty much sure that people don’t put all of their faith on the image itself but the more we worship it the more it affirms their convictions. Let us just treat the image as an image and not God because the line is very much thinning.
But we all have God to thank that Cebu has been spared from a lot of disaster that has ravaged our neighbors: no typhoons and floods, no earthquakes and not much fires and most definitely not that affected by the financial crisis that has kept the world barely breathing. Economy here is pretty much alive and everyone can attest to that. So I think this celebration of ours makes sense as we have a lot to gratify and most of which are not merely protections but as well as blessings we have received all year round.
Sinulog happens every year and this is the third t…

Be Amazed at World-Class Pageantry of Sinulog sa Kabataan 2010

Image
Mabolo Elementary School bags home the title of Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan’s Grand Champion Elementary Division. Their dance showed dancers as Papaya farmers whose crops have been attacked and this beautiful lady carrying the image of Sto. Nino brings them back to life and man, they were great. People were screaming their name come the announcement time and we rejoiced just the same. And they won Best Costume too.

Watch the Mabolo Elementary School’s performance:
Meanwhile, the High School Division’s results were a bit disappointing to me because I was rooting for the Don Sergio Osmena Memorial High School for their theatricality. Their dance starts with a man and her old mother as a live portrait and revolves around a moving play where the man leaves home and enters the church to be ordained priest and goes back to his home and reunites with his mom.

Abellana National High School’s almost perfect dance routines may have won the judges over that is why they took home the Grand Pr…

Why Vote For Gibo?

Image
Gilberto Gibo Teodoro is a great man and to judge him based on the party he represents is just unfair that is why you could really see the amount of effort he exerts to redeem himself. The man has the brain of his own and he is definitely better than anybody else. He can prove that positive politics could really reign in the country where trapo officials are given more favor by the media.
Reasons to vote for him

Why You Should Be Careful With Using the Word “Busy”?

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address he said:
“We can’t keep Christians from turning against God but we can distract them from God. Let them go to church, but let us steal their time so they don’t have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ… …This is what I want you to do,” said the devil: “Distract them from maintaining that vital connection with Jesus throughout their day!”
“How shall we do this?” his demons asked.
“Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,” he answered.
Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear the still, small voice of God. Entice them to play the radio or iPod whenever they drive, to keep the TV, DVD, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home. This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ. Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day. Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, and every kind of newsletter and promotio…

Something You Should Reflect This Christmas

Image
The commercialization of Christmas overthrows the real celebrant. So it makes sense to look at the knots and bolts of this issue at hand.

First off, what really is Christmas? It is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Christ. In fact, the literal meaning of Christes maesse is Mass of Christ. It is in this season where we go to a lot of parties, decorate, give gifts but most of all see Santa’s figures most often than Christ. This should not be the case.

I know malls are doing that to keep people on the spirit of gift-giving or as I call it an encouragement to spend guilt-free on gifts or impulsive buying. On the other hand, Christ was born on a manger and His message is to be humble. What could more humble than coming here in human form?
